Its 1930 and there are hard times ahead, the world was amidst the Great Depression. No jobs, little money and a scarcity of food. But the world was still turning and the average man still had to have transport to get to work. These 1930 models mostly were all of new designs and would have started on the designers drawing board in 1928, with production in 1929 ready for the start of the 1930 motorcycling season. One major upgrade from some of the 1929 models was the new forged steel steering head and backbone that effectively held the machine together that was introduced for the sloper models. Perhaps there was flexibility in the handling with the 1929 models or issues with a sidecar attached and this was BSAs fix. A bit like a bridge girder.
Unlike the 1929 BSA sales catalogue on Barnstormers that is incomplete this 1930 edition comes with all its pages intact, covering an impressive line up of 16 models. A detailed sales catalogue that is well worth inspection.
Missing though is BSAs Model A-29 1.74hp 2 stroke. Evidently not a great success.
